Ice breaker


When: 17/9, from 6pm

Where: Lounge Bar 1050, Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering Campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Etterbeek

What: To kick off the Seminar, we organize an ice breaker event on Monday 17th of September starting from 6pm. It is the ideal opportunity to get to know your fellow PhD Students before the start of the seminar in a casual way with some drinks provided by us.

How to get there:  How to get to the campus can be found here. Lounge Bar 1050 is located in building R, where the cafeteria and the restaurant are located in as well. It is highlighted in the map below. For those who want the help of Google Maps: you can use the old name of the room (Convivium) and Google Maps will guide you. Just keep in mind it's upstairs.

Conference dinner


When: 19/9, from 7pm till 11pm

Where: Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences

What: The conference dinner this year will be hosted in the beautiful Natural Sciences museum in Brussels. There are several magnificent permanent and temporary exhibitions within the museum. For example the dinosaur hall of the museum, with world famous Iguanadon skeletons, is the world's largest museum hall completely dedicated to dinosaurs. The conference dinner will start at 7pm with a welcoming drink and dinner will be from 8pm till 11pm. 

How to get there:  The museum is best accessible by public transport (https://www.naturalsciences.be/en/museum/practical-information/2#practical_information-page-2)

Find your way to the Museum by public transport (Belgian Rail, STIB/MIVB, TEC and De Lijn) with the journey planner of the Belgian Rail.

Train

Brussels-Luxembourg station is a five-minute walk from the museum (see the “Admissions” section above for details on B-Excursions)

Bus
Bus 38 or 95 to “Idalie” or “Luxembourg” bus stops which are a five-minute walk from the museum
Bus 34 or 80 to “Museum” bus stop, opposite the museum

Metro
Line 1 or 5 to “Maelbeek/Maalbeek” station, a ten-minute walk from the museum
Line 2 or 6 to “Trône/Troon” station, a ten-minute walk from the museum

Villo!
There are several Villo! bike rental stations near the museum. The nearest, station no. 102, is located just outside the Museum, at the base of the outside staircase, facing 229-233 Chaussée de Wavre.
